Opportunities & Constraints
The plan below spatially represents the opportunities and constraints presented by the area. Details of these opportunities and constraints can be found by following the two links above.

Surrounding Area

The Royal Albert Dock has nearby green space, the most substantial and in close proximity being the large swathes of green space corridors to the north in Beckton. However this space is challenging to access from the site due to the severance created by the A1020 dual carriageway and the DLR line. This further emphasises the need to provide improved pedestrian links between the Royal Albert Dock and Beckton Park area, as well as ensuring the provision of green accessible public spaces are key in our vision in order to create not only a visually appealing urban form but also ensure that the growing communities around the docks have essential access to green spaces, crucial for health and wellbeing.

Map showing transport and service access around the Royal Docks
The site is highly accessible by public transport with DLR connections running from Beckton to Central London, with the nearby Custom House station providing wider direct east-west links across London and surrounding counties. Public amenities are located surrounding the Royal Albert Dock area but are poorly accessible due to, again, the A1020 dual carriageway and DLR tracks creating severance, and the airport and dock water making links to services in the south unfeasible. It is essential therefore important service and community amenity provision is a key factor to developing our site.
